In Case You Forgot

It has been just over a week since the release of the Otisburg EP Ubergeek over on Bandcamp and the response seems to be overwhelmingly positive!

In the week since it's release, it has been reviewed by the Oklahoma Lefty blog and even made the Top EPs of 2013 list over there as well!

All in all, it seems that the digital release of Ubergeek is going well.

Also in the works for Ubergeek are a physical release which is on its way to being done. That means if you wish to have a copy of Ubergeek of your own in your very hands, you can email us at suburbanempirerecords@gmail.com

Stay tuned to this website for more info and more of what is going on in the Suburban Empire Records universe!

Suburban Empire Update (12.4.13)

It just dawned on us here at Suburban Empire Records that we never gave any updates as to a couple of releases that were supposed to happen this year.

We previously mentioned that we would be re-issuing the Pulpit Red Backbreaker compilation. That is not likely to happen any time soon if at all. We had planned on re-issuing not only Backbreaker but also their Lurk album. Unfortunately, things fell through with those guys and...well, you know how that goes.

We also announced a re-issue of 1990s OKC punk rock band ABF's Spot EP. This was originally supposed to be released in the summer of 2013 but due to technical difficulties in retrieving some of the demo tracks we had wanted to put on the re-issue, that idea has more of less been scraped too. We have been thinking, however, of just re-issuing the EP as it was originally released. That is, without any additional tracks. If that happens, however, it won't be until after the New Year so just stay tuned to this website if you want to hear more about that.

The next release on Suburban Empire's slate, of course, is the long-awaited Ubergeek EP by Otisburg. That is scheduled to be released this Tuesday, December 10. So far, everything is going as planned and we don't see any snags in that one being released. You will be able to download the songs at http://otisburg.bandcamp.com. If you would like a physical copy, just email us here at suburbanempirerecords@gmail.com and we'll get you some information on how to get a physical copy of the CD.

Until then, stay tuned for more news!

Suburban Empire News - 2.25.13

New releases on the horizon for Suburban Empire Records!

Dates are not set in stone yet but Suburban Empire Records has two released set for the spring of 2013.

The first release will be a re-issue/re-release of the Pulpit Red compilation album Backbreaker. For those of you that don't know, Pulpit Red was a rock/punkrock/glam rock band that formed in the mid-1990s in Oklahoma City and eventually broke up in 2010. Pulpit Red is getting back together and to celebrate the reunion, Suburban Empire Records is going to re-issue this amazing compilation album, which includes a large batch of their early recordings.

The second release is also a re-issue. We are re-issuing the 1995 ABF ep Spot. If you don't know anything about this band, it was a garage/crust punk rock band that started in 1990 in Oklahoma City and stayed together off and on until it eventually dissolved in 2001. The re-issue will include the original 4-tracks that were included on the 1995 release and will also include some earlier recordings of the band, demos and such.

Born Yesterday Re-Issue Update

Things are progressing pretty well on the re-release. The track listing is more or less determined. 4 of the songs of course are the songs that were released on the original release of Born Yesterday and the plan right now is to include 2 more tracks.

The next step is to finish the front, inside and back cover art. The front cover is essentially the same as the original release, aside from some arrangement changes. The back cover will be completely different. The inside art will obviously be different because there was never really had any inside cover done in the first place.

Interestingly enough, the liner notes will not be included with the CDs themselves. They will actually be posted on a website and a link to that website will be included somewhere on the back or inside cover.

In addition, work has begun on the follow up to Born Yesterday. No title has been decided on but the writing for most of the songs are complete.

Stay tuned for further details.
